Moin moin! Ich hatte ja schon versprochen, daß ich das letzte Teil meine Wichtelpaketes an Nina - das Meerjungfrauen-Großprojekt - dann heute als Abschluß zeige. Das soll dann natürlich auch passieren. Als kleine Vorgeschichte: Ich zeigte ja vor einigen Wochen hier eine häßliche, bunte Box, die ich für mich selbst als Cardstash aufgehübscht hatte. Nina fragte damals, ob ich nicht noch zufällig noch so eine häßliche Box irgendwo rumstehen hätte *g*. Hatte ich nicht, aber als sie dann mein Wichtelkind wurde, wußte ich sofort, daß mich das nicht aufhalten würde. Leider konnte ich nirgendwo eine Box in der Größe und dem Format, das ich wollte, käuflich erwerben, also muß ich bauen und das kam dabei heraus.
Morning! I promised to show the last item from my "secret summer santa" for Nina today (sorry for writing that post in German only, it was the one showing the LOTV candle holder a few days ago) and of course I intend to keep this promise. I little bit of history: When I showed that ugly, way too colorful box I pimped into a card stash for myself a while ago, Nina asked me if I had another one of those standing around somewhere. I did not, but when random.org chose me as her "secret santa" (is there a different non-christmas word for it?) I knew right away I wouldn't let that little detail stop me now *g*. I couldn't buy a box in the sitze and shape I wanted anywhere, therefore I had to build it myself and that's the result.
Ein passendes Papier zu finden, gestaltete sich mal wieder als Ding der Unmöglichkeit. Normales Scrappapier ging gar nicht und nach stundenlangem Suchen und Wühlen im Internet fand ich dann endlich zwei Packen Digipapier, die zu dem paßten, was ich haben wollte. Genau wie auf dem passenden Notizbuch und dem Hängerchen hab ich auch auf dem Deckel der Box wieder mit kleinen weißen Steinchen, Muscheln und jeder Menge Halbperlen dekoriert.
Finding a matching paper for my purposes proved to be impossible. The ususal scrappaper didn't work out, because no company at all had ocean themed paper out at that time and after digging through the internet for hours and days I finally found two packs of digital paper matching my needs. Like on the matching notepad holder and hanger I once again decorated the lid using the little white stones, sea shells and lots of flatback pearls.
Um den Rand des Deckels hab ich 3 Reihen gerafftes Saumband in 3 verschiedenen Farben geklebt. Die Farben sollten so ein wenig an das Meer erinnern von dem tieferen, dunkler türkisen Wasser unten hoch zur weißen Schaumkrone. Keine Ahnung, ob das funktioniert, aber so war es gedacht *g*.
I glued ruffled seam binding ribbon in 3 different colors and 3 rows around the lid. I wanted it to look like the different layers of the ocean, the deeper darker turquoise waters getting lighter until they are toped by a white foam crown when the waves are crashing to the shore. No clue if it actually works, but that's what I was thinking of *g*.
Die Box war alles in allem ein ganz schönes Megaprojekt, hat aber riesig Spaß gemacht. Seit Beginn der Bauarbeiten ist auch noch viel mehr Graupappe bei mir eingezogen, ich will jetzt endlich mehr damit basteln und so vielleicht auch endlich ein paar der kleinen Fehler ausmerzen, die ich immer noch dabei mache.
All in all this box really was a mega project, but it was so much fun. Since I started on it I bought a lot more chipboard and I really want to do more with it in the near future and perhaps I'll finally manage to work out all the small mistakes I still make when building something from scratch.

Diese Karte hat meine liebe Sylvia vor kurzem von mir zum Geburtstag bekommen und ich glaube, mit dem Motiv hab ich voll ins Schwarze getroffen *g*. Farblich hab ich hier mal sehr mutig in den Farbtopf gegriffen, aber bei Sylvia darf ich das auch mal riskieren, ich glaube fast, mit Pastell würde ich da einen ihrer berühmten Blicke ernten *lach*. Das Foto ist leider nicht so toll, aber die Karte wurde original 5 Minuten vor ihrem Eintreffen hier fertig und ich konnte nicht großartig auf gutes Fotolicht warten. Die Fotos mit Tageslichtlampe wurden merkwürdig gelbstichig, also muß ausnahmsweise mal ein Blitzfoto herhalten, auch wenn die mir sonst einfach viel zu viel Farbe schlucken.
