Sneak Peek & Heads Up

It'll be a bit more quiet on my blog for the next few weeks. I hope no longer than 2 weeks though, I'll try my best. The reason is that I started on my easter decoration 2 days ago and I am planning BIG this year.
I missed out on Christmas completely (can you imagine that?) and I want to make up for that with my easter stuff. So I though I'd give you a little heads up, before I just vanish ;o) and I'll come bearing glimpses of things to come:

This is the first of 3 sheets in total I plan to color and use for my project. Spring will explode with fresh and vibrant colors, baby! LOL

I also plan to have another candy up soon, since my 2-year-blogversary is lurking around the corner already. Can you believe how time runs at the moment? So stay tuned and tell your friends about it! ROFL Just kidding.

Snowflakes are winter's butterflies

There is absolutely no hope for any natural light today. There wasn't any yesterday. I decided to give up waiting and just go ahead with one of those horrible, color sucking flash pictures or I'll miss some of the challenges this card was made for.

I never used this color combo before, but what can I tell you? I absolutely adore it. The BV Copics were a little bit uncooperative, one of them is a little overfilled (but I got it like this from the shop) and that gave me some troubl, but I think all in all it came togehter quite well.

As always you'll find the list of entered challenges below the recipe part.

Stamps: Magnolia & Whimsy Stamps
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and London Fog
Cardstock: Bazzill Thunder & Windy, pearlescent card base
Design Paper: Magnolia Sixpence
Coloring: Copics (Face: E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R21; Hair: E30, E31, E34; Clothes: BV20, BV23, BV25, BV30, BV000, N1, N3, N5; I'm not sure about the package anymore, it has been a couple of weeks since I colored this image, but I think it was E43 and E44)
Punches & Die Cuts: Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Whimsy Stamps Snowflake & Ticket die and Nellie Snellen die
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts
Ribbon: 6mm and 3mm white organza from stash
Other: Shimmer spray on some of the flowers, white embossing powder

And these are the challenges I'll enter with my card:

Steckenpferden Challenge
- Snowflakes

Hanna & Friends
- Nicole's Sketch

Simon Says Stamp - Bingo -- I chose "Punch/Die Cuts - Embossing - Ribbon"

That's all for today.

65th birthday - CD card variation

Tuesday was my father's 65th birthday and this is the card I made for him. I know, Magnolia is not really the first choice for any man, but I really didn't know what I should pick, since I am just shit at anything non-cute, and after I decided to give him a CD (we don't give big presents anymore), I thought this picture would go well with it (I don't own the singing Tilda yet, she would probably have been even better).
I kept the colours manly though... at least I hope so LOL. And I refrained from more or less all kinds of girly embellishments. I had to put SOMETHING on there, but I think a few brown flatback pearls and the tiniest bit of shimmer on the number won't hurt any manly pride *gg*

The picture of the inside looks really like the card is all bent and screwed... well, it's not perfect, I never can seem to achieve perfect and completely straight, but it's not bent either, that's just the perspective from which this picture was taken.

I am hoping for a few rays of real sunlight within the next couple of hours. If I get it, I will add a non-flash picture of the front. It's just not possible yet right now.

And here is what I used:

Stamp: Magnolia
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Summer Sky, Distress Ink Walnut Stain & Frayed Burlap
Cardstock: Bazzil, Neenah, unnamed white
Design Papers: Nitwit Cottage Charm Too and Mooey Christmas Solid packs
Sentiment: Kanban
Coloring: Copics (Faces: E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R21; Hair: E30, E31, E34, E44, E47; Clothing: B91, B93, B95, W0, E44, E47, N5, N7; Shadow: W0, W1, W3), Spica Glitter Pens
Dies & Punches: Martha Stewart Flourish Punch, SU Corner Punch, Spellbinders Beaded Ovals & Dayco Chelsi Alpahbet
Embellishments: brown 3mm flatback pearls (Quixotic Paperie), white organza ribbon dyed with B91

Happy Birthday

My first birthday card for this year and it's going into my stash. That's right, I'll have a stash from now on LOL. Let's see how far I get with that, but I really am trying to never again get into the situation that Christmas or a birthday sneaks up on me behind my back and I have no, zero, nada cards at hand to send out. That was the most embarassing experience ever with all the cards I did get last Christmas.

So, here it is, the foundation for my stash LOL. The Tilda und Snowman card I showed last week might go in there as well, not sure yet. Depends if I am able to com up with another card during the week.

Today is my father's birthday, actually. But I haven't his card ready yet. I find cards for man really, really, really damn hard to make, but I finally go an idea on Sunday and I'll try to finish this card today. Wish me luck *gg*

Enough random babbling for now:

Stamps: Magnolia & Lili of the Valley
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Summer Sky, Distress Ink Walnut Stain
Cardstock: My forever trusty pearlescent cardstock and my no name white cardstock
Design Paper: Nitwit Cottage Charm Too
Coloring: Copics (Face: E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R21; Hair: E30, E31, E33; Clothes: B32, B34, B41, E44, E47; Balloon: Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17), Spica Glitter Pens
Dies: Nellie Snellen
Flowers: Wild Orchid Craft
Ribbon: White Satin Ribbon 3mm from stash, died with Copic B41
Other: Paper Doily Heart from stash, Glimmer Mist Denim Blue, selfmade shimmer spray on the flowers

Submitted to the following challanges:

Wild Orchid Craft
- Lets get sentimental -- for obvious reasons *g*

Just Magnolia & hÄnglar challenge
- My Favourite Things -- This is my favourite stamp from the last Magnolia kit, my favorite die and out of my doilies, the heart shaped ones are a favourite as well.

Stampin' for the Weekend - New & Blue.... -- Hoping that the combination with brown isn't a problem. And I used new stash on this card, since this Magnolia stamp is a recent addition to my collection and I haven't used it before.

On a sad note

A sad reason for a card, but sometimes there is rain as well, isn't there?

A Snowy Hug - Just For You

Another card finished. 2011 is starting a little better for me than 2010 did. I even like both cards I finished so far a lot. This time I went for turquoise / petrol with a little bit of brown on the side. It's a combo I really love, even though I find the colors I used on Tilda's jacket and hat a little difficult to handle.

And of course it had to be an easel card. I haven't done one of those in just too long a time ;o)

Anyway, here is what I used:

Magnolia & Whimsy Stamps
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Destress Ink Walnut Stain & Frayed Burlap
Cardstock: Bazzil Bling, cream pearlescent card, Neenah and my usual white unnamed cardstock. For the die cuts I used actually more like thicker paper in pearlescent white and very, very light turquoise.
Design paper: Nitwit
Coloring: Copics (Face: E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R21; Hair: E30, E31, E33; Clothes: BG11, BG15, BG72, BG75, BG78, W1, W3, W5, E44, E47; Snowman: BG11, BG15, B0000, R000, YR12, YR14, YR16, E30, E31, E33, E25, E27)
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts
Ribbon: Crafty Ribbon
Punches/Dies: Woodware Snowflake Punches, Whimsy Stamps Snowflake Die Cut, Magnoliar Flourish, Leaves and Tag
Other: Snow paste, rhinestomes and flatback pearls from stash

CD Card

So this is it, my very first card for 2011. I made it for Nicole and since it just arrived I can show it to you now.

I found the tutorial for this card over at the Stempeleinmaleins and it was really easy to follow. I like how this card turned out.

I'll once again try to include the recipe for my cards into the post. Let's see how long it'll last this time ;o)

Stamps: Magnolia & Lili of the Valley
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink Walnut Stain, Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet & Brushed Curduroy
Cardstock: Bazzil, Neenah and the cardstock I use for my images, which I don't know the name of
Design Paper: Nitwit Affection Too Pack
Coloring: Copics (Face: E000, E00, E21, E11, R20, R21; Hair: E30, E31, E33; Clothes: R81, R83, R85, R0000, E44, E47; Present: V12, V15, V17, E40, E41; Shadow: W1, W3, W5), Spica Glitter Pens
Punches & Die Cuts: Magnolia Flourish, Magnolia Dragonfly, Martha Stewart Flourish and Monarch Butterfly (took the buttyfly from the buttyfly border punch), EK Success Rock Fern
