Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge #1

I am not much for cards this week ;o). This is my entry to the first challenge over at Stampin' for the Weekend", which was called "From Dusk to Dawn". Reading this I went all: "What??!!" but they were so nice to explain that this means yellow & purple, which I would have never guessed on my own *lol*.
This tin is slightly bigger than the last one and I haven't decided yet if I'll use it for my water color pencils or as a savings box (which is why you still can see the upper silver rim, I wouldn't be able to close the tin anymore if I had this covered up), but I think the pencils will win. The lid to this tin is colored in a very dark brown and I have no idea how to get this yellow or purple on a permanent basis, because I think every kind of color would just flake off again immediately.
The yellow ribbon I had to dye myself and that wasn't any fun at all *g*. It's amazing that there are still crucial things missing in ones craft room even if the darn thing is spilling over already.
Sadly you can't see it in the picture but I lightly sprayed golden Perfect Pearls on the feather. Not much, just a very slight glam effect. It was missing some kind of extra kick, now I think it's perfect.
The pictures aren't the best, especially the coloring of the Gorjuss Girl looks off and clumsily done *sigh*, but that's once again the awful light we have today, haven't seen the sun for 3 days now *glares at rainclouds*.

  2. Oh Heike, you've done a marvelous job on decorating the tin, I love doing that. Most of the tins in my craft room have been altered in some way with papers and stamped images, really brightens up the work area. You did a super job on dying the ribbon, you didn't say how you did it, but I usually use either my twinkling h20's or now I use my copics to color the ribbon to match. The flowers looks lovely as does your gorjuss girl. The paper you chose is perfecf and the feather looks great too. And can you glare at my rainclouds here too please.....lol
Thank you for participating in the "Stampin' for the Weekend" challenge. Good luck and we hope you'll continue to join in on the challenges on a weekly basis. Have a lovely day.

  3. Hello Heike

Oh your altered tin is wonderful and doesn't it give you a sense of achievement when doing these lil storage tins yourself rather than paying all that money for shop bought ones. Clever you for dying the ribbon yourself, it really is a perfect match, the feather is a lovely touch and I am sure it is lovely and shimmery in real life. You have coloured the Gorjuss Girl in beautifully and cut her out to perfection, cutting out images isn't my strong point at all.....lol!!! the flowers look so pretty too. Thank you for taking part with our very first challenge over at SFTW, hopefully you will be able to join in with many more of our challenges. Good luck xx vicki xx
